Antonio B. Aquino

Independent

Tarlac City

Antonio “Tony boy” Aquino was the presidential consultant for information of former President Fidel V. Ramos and former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, both for six years.

His father is Don Antonio Aquino of Tarlac, and he is the eldest among the siblings.

Despite being a nephew of late Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino II and first cousin of current President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III, Antonio decided to run as an independent senatorial candidate.

In 2014, the Council for the Restoration of the Filipino Values (CRFV), a civil society partner of the Civil Service Commission and Transparency International Philippines, appointed Aquino as its director for special projects and media affairs.

During former President Macapagal-Arroyo’s administration, Antonio was instrumental in providing, through government agencies, houses to family relocates.

He is also a businessman based in Negros. As CRFV’s director for Special Projects and Media Affairs, Aquino vowed to help ensure a graft-free Philippines by restoring Filipino values and transparency.

“We are Christian community committed to provide, discipleship, renewal and restoration of Filipino values through professional training programs, regional seminars and national summits,” he said.

In a report from Manila Bulletin, Aquino pointed out that one of the visions of CRFV is to ensure a “community marked with character of an honest and righteous environment geared towards a graft-free society.”

Aquino is also a member of Transparency International, and national coordinator of Philippine Global against Graft & Corruption. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees on CRFV against Graft and Corruption. This earned him an award from the Office of the Ombudsman’s Anti- Graft and corruption Unit.

He also considers himself as an advocate of justice.  He watched over the prosecution of Baby Echegaray.

Aquino also helped in providing legal assistance to innocent Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the Middle East charged and put to prison by their abusive employers. At present, he is an active sponsor for feeding programs for malnourished children in Luzon and Visayas.

Aquino is an Alumni of San Sebastian College, and is married to Anna.

Should he win, Tony boy will be the 6th Aquino to serve the Philippine senate after Ninoy Aquino, Butz Aquino, Tessie Aquino Oreta, Noynoy Aquino and Bam Aquino.
